فقد هزتنا جميعاً من أعماق أعماقنا، أحداث الإرهاب والتطرف التي شقت طريقها إلى الشارع المصري، وشقت معها قلوبنا لنعاني جميعاً نزيف اللوعة والألم على شهداء الواجب من الشرطة، وضحايا الإرهاب والتطرف من أبناء الشعب.
وخيمت على أفكارنا مساحات هائلة من التساؤلات حول المنعطفات التي أدت بفئة من أبناء مصر إلى الانزلاق إلى هاوية التطرف تحت ستار الدين. وامتلأت صفحات الجرائد بالتحليلات والمقالات والتعليقات التي أخذت تنبش عن جذور المشكلة وتحلل مسبباتها وأبعادها بصورة مكنت جماعات المثقفين من إدراك أبعاد المشكلة على المستوى الجماهيري إلى درجة لا بأس بها. كما تم عقد بعض حلقات النقاش والبرامج الإذاعية والتليفزيونية لطرح القضية على المستوى الجماهيري.
ومن هنا تبدأ الإشكالية الخاصة بدور وسائل الإعلام في مناقشة القضايا الحيوية والمصيرية في حياة المجتمع المصري.
