تاريخ الصراع العربي- الإسرائيلى طويل يمتد إلى القرن السابع الميلادى أى يسبق حرب 1948 ومن قبلها وعد بلفور، وفى هذا الكتاب يتناول الدكتور (جمال سلامة) من هذا التاريخ الممتد دولتين بعدا الأبرز فى هذا الصراع "مصر وسوريا" في مواجهة الإحتلال الإسرائيلى وتطلعاته إلى النيل والفرات و ما بينهما. ويبدأ الكتاب من الفكر القومي في سوريا ومصر وتطوره.. ومن ثم مشاريع الأحلاف في الشرق الأوسط، وذلك قبل أن يشرع فى دراسة العلاقات المصرية السورية بين إتحاد وإنفصال.. ثم فى ضوء تطورات وتحديات الحرب فى الفترة ما بين 1967 وحتى 1973. وأخيراً فى ظل التسويات التى خاضتها الجبهة العربية خاصة مصر مع الطرف الإسرائيلى بدءاً من إتفاقيات فك الإشتباك وإنتهاءاً بمدريد.. مروراً بكامب ديفيد وتوابعها . أى أنه مجلد يلقى الضوء على تلك القضية الشائكة موفياً حقها سياسياً و تاريخياً.
