في هذا الكتاب عرض تاريخى أدبى لحادثة دنشواى، وهى كبرى الحوادث الوطنية التى آثارت المشاعر وهزت الضمائر، وأطلقت أقلام الكتاب وأفذاذ الخطباء والشعراء بالشكوى والأنين والثورة والغضب فكان من ذلك كله رصيد أدبي كبير من المقالات والخطب والأشعار، قمت بجمعها من مصادرها، ووقفت على بعضها بالدراسة الفنية. وكان للصحافة العربية، والتى تمثلها مصر حينذاك مواقف متباينة قسمتها ثلاث طوائف لكل طائفة منهجها الصحفى تبعاً للتأويل والإفهام. وبهذا فاكلتاب سجل حافل بآثار الحادثة وصداها فى أدبنا العربي على اختلاف ألوانه.
