يقاس مدى نجاح الرسومات التنفيذية بمدى كون طريقة التنفيذ الموضحة بالرسومات قابلة للتحقيق، وبمدى ملائمة خامات التنفيذ المحددة بالرسومات لوظيفة المبنى بعناصره المعمارية المختلفة، وبمدى مراعاة خامات التنفيذ لعنصر الإقتصاد، وللنواحي المناخية، والنواحي الجمالية. ورغبة في تحقيق ما سبق، فقد تم- بفضل الله تعالى وتوفيقه- تأليف هذا الكتاب ليكون المنهج الدراسي لمادة التصميمات التنفيذية لطلبة السنة الدراسية الثالثة بقسم العمارة والتي يتم تدريسهاعلى مدار فصلين دراسيين لطلبة السنة الثالثة. إلا أن المعلومات التي يحتويها الكتاب مهمة لطلبة العمارة في كل السنوات الدراسية، وللمهندسين المعماريين أيضاً. الكتاب مقسم إلى أبواب حسب اللوحات المطلوبة في الرسومات التنفيذية. في كل لوحة يتم شرح تعريف باللوحة، وأهميتها أو الهدف منها، والمعلومات المطلوب وجودها باللوحة، والبيانات المطلوب إدراجها في كل لوحة. كما يشمل شرح للاعتبارات المطلوب مراعاتها في كل لوحة والمعلومات الهندسية المطلوب الإطلاع عليها قبل التفكير في رسم اللوحة كما يشتمل في نهاية كل باب على مصطلحات رسم اللوحة، ومثال تطبيقي للوحة المطلوبة، وروعي فيه أن يعتمد المهندس (أو الطالب) على كتاب واحد فقط يجمع كل البيانات الأساسية المطلوب معرفتها ( على قدر المستطاع) بدلاً من اللجوء لمراجع متعددة عند رسم كل لوحة.
