سيمون-إرنستين، لوسي ماري برتراند دي بوفوار، تدعى سيمون دي بوفوار (باريس, 9 كانون الثاني 1908 - 14 نيسان 1986) كاتبة ومفكرة فرنسية، وفيلسوفة وجودية، وناشطة سياسية، ونسوية إضافة إلى أنها منظرة اجتماعية. ورغم أنها لا تعتبر نفسها فيلسوفة إلا أن لها تأثير ملحوظ في النسوية والوجودية النسوية. كتبت دي بوفوار العديد من الروايات والمقالات والسير الذاتية ودراسات حول الفلسفة والسياسة وأيضاً عن القضايا الاجتماعية. اشتهرت سيمون دي بوفوار برواياتها -والتي من ضمنها "المدعوة" و"المثقفون" كما اشتهرت كذلك بكتابها "الجنس الآخر" والذي كان عبارة عن تحليل مفصل حول اضطهاد المرأة وبمثابة نص تأسيسي للنسوية المعاصرة.

قالَ لي سارتر ذاتَ مطلعِ صيفٍ، وكأنَّنا سنفترقُ لشهرٍ واحدٍ: "إذاً هي مراسم الوداع؟" فغمرنيّ شعورٌ بمعنى مَا ستكونُّ عليه هذهِ الكلمات ذاتَ يومٍ، استمرَّت تلك المراسمُ عشر سنواَت، وهي السنوات العشر التي أرويها في هذا الكتاب. - "مراسم الوداع"
أجريتُ هذه الحوارات مع سارتر خلالَ صيف عام 1974 في روما وباريس مع بدايةِ الخريف، كان في بعضِ الأحيانِ مُتعباً، فيجيبُني بشكلٍّ غيرِ واضح، أو ربَّما كنتُ أفتقرُ إلى الإلهامِ، فأطرحُ أسئلةُ لا معنىَ لها، حَذفتُ بعضَ الحواراتِ الَّتي بدت لي من دون أهميَّة، أمَّا الأخرى؛ فجمعتُها بحسبِ موضوعاتِها، وتدرُجها الزَّمني تقريباً، وحاولتُ أن أضعَهِا في صيغة مقروءة.
ثمَّة فَرقٌ شاسعٌ، كما نعرف، بين أقوالٍ جُمعت مُسجَّلَةٌ في آلة تسجيل، ونصوصٍ مكتوبة بشكلٍ صحيح، لكنِّي لم أحاولْ كتابتَها بالمعنى الأدبيِّ للكلمة، لأنْي أردتُ الحفاظَ على عفويُتها، لذلكَ سيجدُ القارئُ فيها مقاطعَ غيرَ مترابطة، وتلكؤاً، وتكراراً، بل وتناقضات أيضاً؛ أبقيتُها على حالها لأنّي خشيتُ تشويهَ كلمات سارتر، أو التَّضحيةَ بإيحاءاتها.
إنَّها لا تُضيفُ إليه كشفاً غيرَّ منتظر، لكنَّها تسمحُ للقارئَ بمتابعةِ متاهاتِ فكرهِ والإستماعِ إلى صوتِه الحيِّ.
