تحكى هذه الرواية عن ولد وقع في غرام البحر وهو بلهو صغيرا على رمال شاطي اسكندرية ينمو الطلف وتنمو معه مداركه ودون افتعال وفي اسلوب حكى سهل وسلس يقدم لنا صورة لعائلته .. الأب ، الأم ، والأخوة والاخوات من خلال حى يستمد جماله من صدقه هذه الروح الصافية في سنوات الصبا تحمل الراوي إلى افاق عالمي في إدراك روعة الكون ان شهقة الدهشة لدى رؤيته لكائنات البحر الجميلة لا تختلف عن روعة القبلة الاولى او اللقاء الجسدي الاول مع الفتاة (الحلم) الحورية!! الصدق في رأي هو الأساس في قيمة هذه الرواية ومع تتبع الصبى وهو يحكى عن صباه ومراهقته تومض في الصور علامات في تطور المجتمع المصري الاجتماعي والسياسيى من اللجوء الى المخابئ عام 1948 مرورا بحصار الدبابات لقصر راس التين يوم 23 يوليو 1952 الى ظهرو جيمس دين وعبد الحليم حافظ ومن المستحمات بالبكيني في سيدى بشر وصولا الى المستحمات المتحجبات. انها رواية ممتعة ما ان تبدأ بي قرائتها حتى تشدك اليها كما تشدك امواج البحر في يوم قائظ.
