It is not often that heroes like Aziz Al-Mitfi come into being, but when they do, they rekindle our faiths, replenish our kindness, elevate our souls, and make us yearn to be better people.
The Diary of Aziz Al-Mitfi (1946- 1926) ends with these solemn lines: "One last love is all I crave", "Before I’m in the grave", "One last burning meteor", "Before I am no more".
As I took one last look at my emptied room, all of my past life uncoiled before me like a string of beads, and I watched it with forlorn melancholy scroll like a long train, whistling at dusk, through the deserted chambers of my heart.
