انتشرت ظاهرة العولمة وتنوعت أساليبها ومضامينها ووسائلها وأخذت حيزا واسعا في السياسة والاقتصاد والاعلام ويتم تداولها في مجالات الحياة المختلفة واتضحت مظاهرها على صعيد الواقع من خلال وجود الولايات المتحدة المريكية قوة عظمى ومنفردة على هرم المنظوخمة الدولية وأسهم في تدعيم ذلك عوامل عديدة يأتي في مقدمتها القوة العسكرية والهيمنة الاقتصادية والنفوذ الاعلامي الواسع والفاعل على الصعيد العالمي والتقدم التقني ولا سيما في وسائل الاتصال. وارتكز البعد الاعلامي للعولمة على ماطرحته الثورة العلمية في مجال تقنيات وسائط الاتصال التى سهلت عملية نقل المعلومات من خلال المسافات الواسعة وتجلى ذلك بوضوح اكثر في البث الفضائي المباشرة من خلال اقمار الاتصال. وامام التحديات الرئيسية المكونة لعولمة الاعلام وهيمنة البث الأجنبي الوافد إلى الوطن العربي من خلال الأطباق اللاقطة (Dish) قررت الحكومات العربية انشاء قنوات فضائية حكومية تبث ارسالها من داخل الوطن العربي وانشأ راس المال العربي فضائيات خاصة تبق من بعض الاقطار العربة واخرى من خارج حدود الوطن العربي وتجاوز عددها اكثر من 200 قناة فضائية. هدف هذا الكتاب إلى تشخيص العلاقة القائمة بين التحديات التى فرضتها علومة الاعلام ، الفرص التى اتاحتها للإعلام العربي ودور البث الفضائي العربي تجاهها وذلك من خلال الترعف على واقع عمل الفضائيات العربية والتحديات التى تواججها في ظل عولمة البث الفضائي وهيمنة الاعلام الغربي على الساحة العربية والدولية مستغلا البث الفضائي المباشر في فرض انماط محددة على بلدان العالم المختلفة.
