كم تكون الحياة شاقة لمن عاش دوما عند حوافها حواف الأزمنة والأمكنة والعلاقات تلك الأطراف الاسرع تغير لدى شهاب الذى كان وهو يعاين تهدم دنياه الهشة شخصيا معرضا للخطايا ليس بالمفهوم الدينى بالطبع فخطاياه لا تعد ربما بالمفهوم الوجودى واقف على حافة السام تلك الهاوية الزلقة التى تقتضى من الواحد قدرا هائلا من القوة والرغبة بالمقاومة كى يستمر ولم يكن يبدو أن لدى شهاب من تلك المقاومة شيئا حين فاجاه الوهج الأبيض الذى انفرج عنه الباب . شهاب .. شاب طموح .. تخرج فى كليه الآثار .. المفروض أنه يعمل فى ترميم المبانى الأثرية .ز ولكن الفساد أكرههة وجماعته واصدقاءة عن الاتبعاد والاكتفاء بالنظر من بعيد .. يعيش شهاب وحده فى غرفه فوق احد أسطح المبانى القديمة فى القاهرة الفاطيمة .. ومن خلال أحداث هذه الرواية سنعيش معه ومع أصدقاءه فقو سطح المبنى الثديم الجميل بين البيوت الأثرية والمساجد الرائعة والفساد المتفشى والذى يمحو كل صوره جميلة فى حياتنا .
