وتكمن أهمية الكتاب في كونه يغوص في العمق، ويسلط الضوء على الأحداث المفصلية وعلى مواقف الدول الكبرى وسياساتها في المنطقة، ويعرض تفاصيل في غاية الأهمية عن دور الولايات المتحدة والدول المحورية الأخرى في المنطقة، وتفاصيل نمط التفكير الخليجي الذي يتميز بالقبلية والحسد والخوف كما الإحساس بالتفوق إلى حد ما، إلا أن الكاتب لا يخفي إعجابه بالتجربة الخليجية التي حولت هذه الممالك الصغيرة إلى قوى كبرى.
