تدور أحداث الرواية داخل أرمنت فى فتره زمنية قرابة الثلاثين عاماً قبل ثورة 23يوليو وبعدها وتحكى عن علاقة أحد الأولياء المسلمين وأحد القديسين المسيحيين بأهالى أرمنت شرقاً وغرباً ويلعب المكون الدينى الدور الرئيسى فى الأحداث كفانتزيا واقعية لتجسيد إيمان الأرمنتيين بالأسطورة سواء مسلمين أومسيحيين وتفاعلهم معها وتلاحم الجميع لصد خطر واحد هو الشيطان بكل صوره المتجسدة فى التمساح والتنين وعزيز فرحات ومازن وكذا تعبر الأحداث عن كفاح شعب أرمنت ضد الظلم بأنواعه الذى تعرضوا له مثلهم فى ذلك مثل باقى البلدان المصرية أبان العهد الملكى.
