وهى الملكة الأكثر شهرة بين ملكات وملوك البطالمة، لما أحاط بسيرتها العاطفية ومسيرتها التاريخية من سحر وإثارة وغموض، ولدورها التاريخي المتفرد كآخر من حكم مصر من نسل البطالة المقدونيين.
وقد كتب من وحي قصتها العديد من الأدباء مثل (شكسبير) و (جون درايدن) و (فاليرى) وأمير الشعراء (أحمد شوقى) و (توفيق الحكيم).. ومن وحيها أيضاً هذه المسرحية التاريخية عن فاتنة النيل.
