"الياقوت النفيس" في الأصل رسالة في مذهب الإمام محمد بن إدريس الشافعي، في فقه السادة الشافعية ألفها السيد العلامة أحمد بن علوي الشاكري، وهو مؤلف حافل جمع أسساً وقواعد وأصولاً تضبط حواصل الأبواب الفقهية وحدودها الجامعة المانعة، وشروطها وتطبيقاتها مع اختصار غير مخل، وعبارة سهلة جذلة وتعليقة لم يترك شيئاً يحتاج إليه الطالب إلا وفيّ به،. وقد ألفه نزولاً عند رغبة أستاذه الشيخ عبد الله الشاطري الذي أشفق على طلبة العلم مما يعانونه في التفتيش عن الأسس والقواعد والأصول التي تضبط حواصل الأبواب مما يضطرهم إلى التقاطها من الحواشي المطولة ومن إلقاء المدرسين.
أما شرح الياقوت النفيس والذي وضعه ولد المؤلف السيد محمد بن أحمد الشاطري، فهو مجموعة ما أملاه وشرحه المؤلف عند قراءة كتاب الياقوت النفيس. يقع الكتاب في ثلاثة مجلدات ضخام من القطع الكبير، وعلى هامش الكتاب تعليقات لجامعه محمد بن عبد القادر بن حسين السقاف تأكيد السيد محمد بن أحمد الشاطري.
