Sheikh Nasser Almanqour was one of the founders of political, education – al and diplomatic work in modern Saudi Arabia. From his childhood in a small town in the desert to his retirement as the Ambassador to the Court of St. James, he spent his life in the service of his beloved country.
Sheikh Nasser’s journey began in the small town of Hawtat Sudeir in the desert of Nejd, leaving it with a heavy heart to pursue of knowledge was the ultimate goal.
This was still a time of hardship and modest resources, when strength of will and character were needed to overcome even daily life. He began in Riyadh and went onto Makkah. His hard work was rewarded with a scholarship to Cairo University in the big Arab metropolis. His talents shone from a young age and as soon as he returned to Saudi Arabia, he was promoted to pivotal roles in education, advancing the country’s march to become a modern state. He became a government minister before the age of thirty. He was then chosen to represent his country in Japan, Scandinavia, Spain, and finally the United Kingdom.
This is also the story of a young country’s meteoric rise to join the developed countries of the world. Beginning with establishing elementary schools for everyone in the fifties and building universities a few short decades later Abroad, Sheikh Nasser was also a pioneer of Arab diplomacy, laying the foundations of diplomatic work in every country where he served.
