يهتقد الناس البسطاء فى صعيد مصر ان الابن الاصغر للتوام عندما ينام فان روحه تغادر جسده وتلبس قطا وتتجول فى ارجاء المدينة كما تشاء واذا قام احد ما بايقاظ النائم فانه يموت وعليه فلابد ان يترك نائما حتى يستيقظ وحده لان الروح لابد ان تعود لتجد النائم كما هو وشخصيته البطل فى هذه الرواية كانت امه تغلق عليه حجرة نومه بالمفتاح ولكنه يقول ان روحه كانت تستطيع الخروج من فرجه فى حائط الغرفة وتجول المدينة بحرية تامة ثم تلبس بالفعل جسد قط ما وتتجول كما شادت ثم تعود الى جسد صاحبها كما كانت ولكن صاحب القط لا يستطيع الخروج من المدينة التى يعيش فيها فثمه قوة اكبر منه تمنعة من ذلك ويطلق على الابن الاصغر فى التوائم دائما اسم قط ..
