لقد منَّ الله سبحانه وتعالى على فرقة من عباده، فاختصوا بحفظ الحديث وروايته، ونقله ودراسته، فنالوا الفضل العظيم، والأجر الكبير بعد أن صانوا حديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وميزوه من كلام باقي الخلق، وبينوا ضعيفه من صحيحه، ومؤلف هذا الكتاب الدكتور خميس محروس علي محمود العزاوي واحد من العلماء والأساتذة لدارسين لهذا العلم (اصول الدين)، وقع إختياره على مرويات الصحابي الجليل "سهل بن سعد الساعدي في مسند الإمام أحمد، وموطأ الإمام مالك، وسنن الدرامي" فقدم لنا (دراسة تحليلية) لمرويات الساعدي في المصادر الثلاث دون الصحيحين، وذلك لكثرة الأحاديث وطول شرحها، موزعاً عمله على عدد من الفصول تبدأ بنبذة عن حياة الصحابي سهل بن سعد الشخصية والعلمية، مروراً بمرويات الساعدي في العبادات في الكتب الثلاث حيث بلغ عدد مروياته التي أخرجها له الإمام أحمد في مسنده، والإمام مالك في الموطأ، والدرامي في سننه (125) رواية مع المكرر، (52) رواية بدون المكرر، وبلغ عددها في مسند الإمام أحمد (102) رواية مع المكرر...
وبعد الدراسة تبين للمؤلف بلغ عدد الأحاديث الصحيحة، (32) وأما الأحاديث الحسنة، فبلغ عددها (7) أحاديث، والأحاديث الضعيفة بلغ عددها (13)، وإن أغلب الروايات التي رويت عن الصحابي سهل بن سعد الساعدي رضي الله عنه كانت ضعيفة، وأما الصحيحة والحسنة فكانت قليلة كما بينت هذه الدراسة.
