كانت فضيحة شركة أنرون الأمريكية دافعًا لي لأكتب هذا المرجع شديد الأهمية في فن التحايل المحاسبي، بعد أن أصبح التحايل والخداع فنًا إجراميًا، والذي تقوم به بعض الشركات المخادعة، ليس فقط للتهرب من الضرائب الباهضة التي تفرض عليها، ولكن أيضًا لخداع المساهمين فيها، وتقديم بيانات مضللة وكاذبة تعلنها للدولة للتحايل في إظهار نتائج الأعمال.
وقد تحول التحايل من مجرد التهرب من دفع التزام، إلى الحصول على المزايا والمكافآت، والتلاعب بتفضيلات المستثمرين، والمهتمين بشكل عام بالشركة.
وقد استخدمت هذه الشركات كافة الحيل المحاسبية من أجل إظهار نتائج أعمال وردية، وإخفاء خسائر باهظة، وجني مجلس إدارة الشركات المكافآت والمزايا والمرتبات الضخمة، وهو ما أدى إلى استحلال أموال الشركات، ونهبها والاستيلاء عليها بدون وجه حق، وهو ما أدى إلى الحصول على أموال كثيرة، واختلاسها.. إلخ ثم استخدام الورق الكاذب بيانات محاسبية مخادعة لتبرير ذلك، والحصول علي موافقة عليه واعتماده.
