منذ أن تحولت الكعبة إلى قبلة المسلمين الأولى في السنوات الأولى للهجرة، جُعِلت لها مناسك إسلامية خاصة بها، من حيث الإحرام لها من أماكن معينة، ومن ثم طواف الحاج حول الكعبة معتمرا، ثم الانتقال إلى فريجة الحج من خلال الوقوف بعرفة، فالمزدلفة، فمنى وغيرها. وقد تنوع الحج ما بين حج تمتع، وحج قِران، وحج إفراد وغيرها، ولكل منها أحكامه، فمَن يؤدي أيا منها بدون العلم بأحكامها، سيقع في الكثير من الأخطاء، ويترتب عليه كفارات، ومن هنا مسّت الحاجة لبيان هذه المناسك وأحكامها، وكيفية أدائها على الوجه الصحيح، فكان هذا الكتاب بيان لذلك.
