Five days later there was still no news, and I was getting despondent about the prospect; it is not good enough for me to think that what I had written was good and therefore worthy of being looked into, the important thing was what a publisher might think, and it was difficult even to get to first base.
I did not know anything about professional literary agents who handle newcomers like me. All I knew is that I got a feedback from a good and cultured friend whom I had asked to take a look at the manuscript, and he was quite encouraging, even enthusiastic, and that made me venture into the unknown world of publishers and publications on my own.
I was an optimist by nature, but even optimism had its limits I suppose, and I thought another two days and I’ll pack up and think of an alternative way, I was not yet at the stage where I would give up altogether.
