إن قضية الإستنساخ قد استحوذت على وسائل الإعلام ودخلت كل البيوت عن طريق الأجهزة الحديثة، تلك المسألة التي صدرت فيها بعض المؤلفات، منذ بضع سنوات وأكثر، ولكن على شكل خيال علمي، ولكنها عادت لتطرح بقوة، خاصة بعد نجاح الفريق العلمي الإسكتلندي من معهد روزلين في أول عملية إستنساخ حيواني وظهور النعجة (دوللي)، وما تبع ذلك من إستنساخ عجول وقرود، وقد اتسع الجدل حول الموضوع عندما أعلن بعض الأطباء عن قدرتهم على إستنساخ البشر. ومع تسارع الإكتشاف في مجال الهندسة الوراثية والإستنساخ، حظرت ومنعت أي تجربة على الإنسان، وحرمتها هيئات دينية واستبشرت جهات أخرى بإعادة إستنساخ الأموات، تزعزع إيمان بعض العامة وضعاف الإيمان معتبرين الإستنساخ خلقاً والعياذ بالله.
من هذا المنطلق، خاض المؤلف في هذا الموضوع، سعياً منه للوصول إلى إجابة لكثير من الأسئلة المحيرة عن مساؤى ومحاسن الإستنساخ.
كما يهدف المؤلف إلى بيان مرونة الفقه الإسلامي، وقدرة الشريعة على إستيعاب كل جديد، وعدم وقوف علماء الإسلام مكتوفي الأيدي أمام أي نازلة، وأن الدين الإسلامي يحض على العلم والبحث ويحارب من حارب العلم القائم على الدليل.
