حوى هذا الكتاب عدداً من المباحث ذات العلاقة بموضوعها: فتطرقت في البداية إلى محاولة الكشف عن بداية دخول الإسلام للصين وإنتشاره، ومظاهر العلاقات العربية الصينية، والأحوال العامة لتلك العلاقات عبر الإمبراطوريات التي تولت السلطة في الصين، وأحوال المسلمين خلال ذلك التاريخ.
وأشارت إلى عدد من أعلام المسلمين الذين بذلوا جهوداً قيّمة في الحفاظ على بقاء الإسلام في الصين، ونشره من خلال الأعمال العلمية والتربوية والإسهامات البنائية للعمل الدعوي.
ومن أولئك عَلَمُ هذه الدراسة (تشن كي لي)، حيث تم التعريف به: بمولده ونشأته وحياته؛ فاتضح أنه قد نشأ في أسرة مسلمة حرصت على تربيته لخدمة الإسلام، واهتمت بتغذيته بالعلم الشرعي.
ولقد نشأ هذا العلم في ظل ظروف قاسية مسّت حياة المسلمين بضغوط شديدة أثرّت فيه ودفعته للحرص على العمل وبذل الجهد لخدمة دين الإسلام، مقتدياً في ذلك بسلفه من أعلام المسلمين الصينيين عبر تاريخ الإمبراطوريات التي غلب عليها طابع تقلّب الأحوال من إمبراطوريات مؤيدة إلى إمبراطوريات مناهضة للإسلام والمسلمين، ولكن لم يمنع ذلك من وجود علماء كانت لهم إسهامات بارزة عملت على بذل جهود تربوية قيّمة أدت إلى تمكين الإسلام في الصين وإستمراره.
