كتاب الجغرافية واحد من كتب التراث السلفي الإسلامي الأندلسي عرفه كتاب العرب القدماء ونقلوا عنه القطع والصفات الطوال ولم يذكروا بالرغم من ذلك اسم مؤلف وقد تناقله النساخ خصوصا في المغرب العربي وأهملوا اسم مؤلفه .. إن المخطوطات التى وصلتنا منه كثيرة وهي متأخره عن عصر الكتاب وتتسم بأنواع الخلل اللغوي وغير اللغوي على اختلاف بعضها عن بعض وأقدم هذه المخطوطات نسخة باريس التى نسخت بعد عصر المؤلف بنحومائتي سنة وقد نقل الكتاب في أثناء القرن الثالث عشر إلى الأسبانية وكانت المخطوطة في خزانة الملك واهتم الكثير من الباحثين المستشرقين بها وألفوا حولها الكثير وقد ورد عنوان الكتاب هكذا بالعين المهملة وكله جغرافية في الأصل تعني خريطة.
