لقد عصفت بالأمة الإسلامية رياح هبّت من مناطق صراع أوجدتها تكتلات سياسية نشأت من معتركٍ أطاح بالمعادلات الثوابت التي أرسى توازناتها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إبّان بعثته المباركة. وقد كانت أبرز هذه المعادلات الثوابت هي معالة الإمامة وعلاقتها بمهمة النبوة. ومعادلات الإمامة تلك كانت ذات أطراف أربعة حرص النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على توازن كل طرفين ذي علاقة، فطرفا النبوة والإمامة شكّلا معادلة واحدة، وطرفا التبليغ النبوي، والفهم العام شكّلا معادلة أخرى. وكلا المعادلتين تجمعتا لتشكلان الرؤية الإسلامية للإمامة.
وقد كان المحور الرئيسي في هذا الكتاب حول معادلة النبوة والإمامة وأما معادلات التبليغ النبوية والفهم العام فهي تُسْتَل قراءتها من بين مطاوي الكتاب. وعلى الرغم من كون تلك الثوابت التي قدمها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كنصوص لأطروحة الإمامة واحدة تماماً؛ ولكن كانت قراءة تلك الثوابت في الوقت نفسه مختلفة جداً حتى حاك بين حقيقة تلك النصوص وبين الفهم العام الإسلامي لبعض التشكيلات السياسية هذا وإن تضخمات هذه الحالة ساعد في تكوين جدار من جليد بين الفرق الإسلامية، حال بين الأمة، وبين الرؤية الإسلامية الواضحة.
وهذا الكتاب هو بمثابة محاولة يحاول المؤلف من خلالها أن يقدم للقارئ أسلوباً آخر من قراءة النص وفهمه، وطرح كلّ التوجهات التي بغت على النص النبوي، وأودت بالمفهوم الإسلامي الخالص، للوصول إلى أهدافها المتعددة، وكان هدف المؤلف من وراء ذلك معرفة حقيقة كل شيء من طرفه المقابل ليستخرج شواهد القضية من جهتها المعاكسة حيث قدّر له قراءة الإمامة برواية الصحاح والسنّة ويبحثها في مسانيدها عند أهل السنّة حيث اكتشف أن الفروق بين الإمامية وإخوانهم أهل السنّة تتلاشى كلما أوغل الباحث في مسيرة بحثه، وليكتشف أن الآراء الآخرى التي تلاحق النص وتتابع الحدث الإسلامي ما هي إلا افتراضات هامشية فرضها ظرفها السياسي، أو حَجَمها ذوقُ هذا أو عاطفةُ ذاك.
