ابن الوَزِير (775 - 840 هـ = 1373 - 1436 م)
محمد بن إبراهيم بن علي بن المرتضى بن المفضل الحسني القاسمي، أبو عبد الله، عز الدين، من آل الوزير: مجتهد باحث، من أعيان اليمن. وهو أخو الهادي بن إبراهيم. ولد في هجرة الظهران (من شطب: أحد جبال اليمن) وتعلم بصنعاء وصعدة ومكة. وأقبل في أواخر أيامه على العبادة.
قال الشوكاني: «تمشيخ وتوحش في الفلوات وانقطع عن الناس» ومات بصنعاء، له كتب نفائس، منها «إيثار الحق على الخلق - ط» و «تنقيح الأنظار في علوم الآثار - ط» في مصطلح الحديث، و «قبول البشرى بالتيسير لليسرى - ط» و «العواصم والقواصم في الذب عن سنة أبي القاسم - خ» ثلاثة مجلدات، طبعت قطعة منه [ثم طُبع كاملا]، ومختصره «الروض الباسم في الذب عن سنة أبي القاسم - ط» مجلدان، و «نصر الأعيان» في التنفير من شعر أبي العلاء المعري، و «البرهان القاطع في إثبات الصانع - ط» رسالة، و «حصر آيات الأحكام الشرعية»
و «التأديب الملكوتي» و «الحسام المشهور في الذب عن الإمام المنصور» و «تريجح أساليب القرآن على قوانين المبتدعة واليونان - ط» و «قواعد التفسير - خ» و «ديوان شعر» و «مجموع - خ» من رسائل مختلفة له، في مكتبة الشيخ زهير الشاويش ببيروت

لم يرق لجمال الدين علي بن أبي القاسم، خروج ابن الوزير عما ألفوه من التقليد؛ لذلك قام عليه في جملة القائمين، وترسل عليه برسالة عارضه فيها. وهذا ما دعا "ابن الوزير" إلى تدوين كتابه الشهير "العواصم والقواصم في الذب عن سنة أبي القاسم" وهو كتاب مطول إذ يقع في تسعة أجزاء، هذا التطويل في الشرح هو الذي دعا مؤلفه من جديد إلى إعادة تدوينه في كتاب آخر وهو هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا واذي اختصر فيه ما جاء في رده على رسالة "أبي القاسم".
ولأهمية موضوع هذا الكتاب ولأهمية مصنفه عني المحقق "محمد علاء الدين المصري" بتحقيقه وتجلى عمله بـ: تخريج الآيات القرآنية والأحاديث النبوية الشريف من مظانها؛ دّون مقدمة تحدث فيها عن الفرقة الزيدية، وبعض فرق المعتزلة، ثم أردفها ببعض النقول عن المجاز في القرآن وعقيدة إثبات الصفات عند أهل السنة، نقل كافة التراجم من كتاب (العواصم والقواصم).
