لم يكن كتاب الله فيه شئ يلقن، ولم تكن معانيه وألفاظه شيئاً محدداً، كتاب الله نور لم يكن فيه ظلم أو جور، وأمته أمة وسط، أي رفيعة القدر ليس فيها تطرف أو جمود، كتاب هجره من كان أهله، وبكتمان ما فيه قد أعرض الناس عنه، لم يروا من أدعيائه إلا شعارً أو علوا ونفارا، بسفاهة جعلوا الدين مظاهر أو ترانيم، وكل شئ على ما رأوه لا على ما يسمو إليه الدين ويعلو، لكن الناس عند الله سواء، والإيمان تصديق بغيب، لم يكن فيه تمييز، ولم يكن فيه من تسلط، وإنما تكملة لما رأيته من ثراء في اللفظ وتنوع يدعو لتحرير العقل من كل غل ومن كل قيد، قد رجعت فيه للمفردات في غريب القرآن للأصفهاني، وكان سابقاً لي فيما كتبته، وعلى غرار كتابي السابق عن سورة المائدة، فلم يكن كتابي هذا مرجعاً، وأنا آخذ عليه قبل أن يؤخذ عليه، وإنما تذكير مأمور به، ويذكر من تذكر، فأدعو الله أن ينفع به والله يهدي بفضله وكرمه من اهتدى وتذكر.
