هذا كتاب أذكر فيه إن شاء الله تعالى ما سمعته من مشايخي، ورويته عن أئمتى من مرسوم خطوط مصاحف أهل الأمصار: 1- المدينة 2- ومكة 3- والشام 4- والكوفة 5- والبصرة، وسائر العراق والمصطلح عليه قديما متفقا عليه ومختلفا فيه، وما انتهى إلى من ذلك وصح لدى منه عن مصحف الإمام عثمان بن عفان- رحمه الله تعالى- وعن سائر النسخ التى انتسخت منه الموجه بها إلى الكوفة والبصرة والشام. وأجعل (جميع) ذلك أبوابا، وأصنفه فصولاً، وأخليه من بسط العلل، وشرح المعانى لكى يقرب حفظة، ويخف متناوله على من التمس معرفته من طالبى القراءة وكاتبى المصاحف وغيرهم ممن قد أهمل ذلك وأضرب عن روايته، واكتفى فيه دهرا وبظنه ودرايته.
