هذا الكتاب موجه لطلاب العلم في كلية الشريعة الإسلامية وموجه لكل راغب في التفقه في أصول الدين الإسلامي، وهو يحتوي على ردود مختصرة مدونة بأسلوب عصري مفهوم يجمع ما بين المسألة الفقهية المراد الحكم فيها والمذهب الراجح فيها فقط، ويستدل على ذلك بدليل أو دليلين أو أكثر، وبشكل عام يحتوي الكتاب على ستة فصول: تكلم الأول منها والذي هو في المقدمات عن تعريف أصول الفقه، والفرق بينه وبين الفقه، والفرق بين القواعد الأصولية والقواعد الفقهية، وموضوع أصول الفقه، وحكم تعلمه، وفوائده، وأيهما الذي يقدم في التعليم: أصول الفقه أو الفقه؟ ومصادر أصول الفقه، ونشأته، وطرق التأليف فيه، وأهم الكتب المؤلفة على كل طريقة. وتكلم الفصل الثاني والذي هو في الحكم الشرعي عن تعريف الحكم الشرعي، وتقسيمه إلى حكم تكليفي وحكم وضعي، وعرف كل نوع من أنواع الحكم التكليفي وهي الواجب والمندوب، والمباح والمكروه، والحرام، وذكر كل ما يتعلق بكل نوع من المسائل بالتفصيل، وبين التكليف وشروطه وما يتعلق به. وعرف كل نوع من أنواع الحكم الوضعي، وهي: السبب، والشرط والمانع والعزيمة، والرخصة، وذكر كل ما يتعلق بكل نوع من المسائل بالتفصيل. ثم فرًق بين الحكم التكليفي والحكم الوضعي من وجوه. وتكلم في الفصل الثالث والذي هو في أدلة الأحكام الشرعية عن الأدلة المتفق عليها، والأدلة المختلف فيها، فذكر الدليل الأول وهو الكتاب، وما يتعلق به من مسائل، وذكر الدليل الثاني وهو السنة وما يتعلق به من مسائل، ثم ذكر ما يشترك فيه الكتاب والسنة وهو النسخ والألفاظ ودلالتها على الأحكام، ثم ذكر الدليل الثالث وهو الإجماع وما يتعلق به من مسائل، ثم تكلم عن الدليل الرابع وهو القياس وما يتعلق به من مسائل. ثم تكلم عن الأدلة المختلف فيها وهي الاستصحاب شرع ما قبلنا… ثم تكلم في الفصل الرابع من الاجتهاد وذكر ما يتعلق به من مسائل بالتفصيل. وكذلك فعل في الفصل الخامس والذي هو في التقليد، وفي الفصل السادس والذي هو في التعارض والترجيح.
