يعتبر المنهج العمود الفقري للعملية التربوية لذا نحن بحاجة إلى تطوير المناهج التربوية تجنباً لما يحدث من خلل في الواقع الإجتماعي، وكذلك للخروج من حالة الفوضى التي نعيشها، وذلك لبلوغ مستويات التماسك الإجتماعي وهذا ما نلمسه في التغير الحاصل في القيم الأخلاقية النمطية كالثقافة والواقعية، ما جعلنا نفكر في إعادة تشكيل منظومة تربوية جديدة داخل مؤسسات التنشئة الإجتماعية (الأسرة، المدرسة، وسائل الإعلام...) للرقي بفكر الفرد ليكون صالح وقادر على تحمل أعباء النهوض بالأمة، لهذا وجب علينا ربط المناهج التربوية بحياة الفرد داخل مجتمعه.
كما أن التربية هي مضمون المنهج فلا يمكننا إحداث التغير الإجتماعي إلا بها، والقيم الأخلاقية هي جزء لا يتجزأ من المنهاج التربوي، ونحن نعلم أن الأخلاق هي مجموعة من القواعد تنظم السلوك الإنساني، وكمثال على القيم الأخلاقية الصدق، وهذا ما لم نعد نلمسه غالباً في المجتمع العربي، نتيجة الخلل الحاصل في المناهج التربوية التي يتلقاه الفرد عبر مراحل حياته.
تضمن الكتاب مجموعة من الأبحاث لباحثين من الجامعات الجزائرية والعربية وكلها تدور حول المناهج التربوية وإشكالية القيم الأخلاقية في المجتمع العربي.
