هذا كتاب جليل جميل من كتب الأئمة الغابرين، فيه ترجمة لإمام كبير من الأئمة المجددين، طارت بأخباره الركبان. والكتاب هو "العقود الدرية في مناقب شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية".
ومؤلفه هو: الحافظ أبو عبد الله محمد بن أحمد بن عبد الهادي الجماعيلي المقدسي، تلميذ شيخ الإسلام. وتأتي أهمية الكتاب في المترجم له، والمؤلف. أما المترجم له، والمذكورة أخباره ومناقبه، فهو شيخ الإسلام أحمد ابن عبد الحليم بن تيمية الحراني، تقي الدين أبو العباس. وهو الذي تتوق قلوب وعقول محبي السنة إلى سماع أخباره، ومعرفة أحواله، وقراءة ودراسة مصنفاته.
والمؤلف هو تلميذه المحب له، وهنا تمكن أهمية الكتاب، في أن من كتب عن الشيخ معاصر له، بل ومحب أيضاً، زد على ذلك أنه تلميذه. فكان الكتاب من أوسع الكتب، وأهم المراجع في ترجمة الشيخ رحمه الله فقيه حديث عن اسم شيخ الإسلام ونسبه مولده، س\سماعه بدمشق، ثناء العلماء عليه، ذكر مصنفاته، صور من جهاده للتتار، اجتماعه بابن دقيق العبد، شجاعته، مواقفه، محنه، وقيام المبتدعين عليه لتأليفه الحموية، عقيدته، توجهه للمصر، سجنه، شكوى الصوفية الشيخ إلى السلطان وأمره بحبسه، سكنى ابن تيمية بالقاهرة، خروجه إلى الشام مع الجيش المصري، فتاواه بدمشق وبعض اختياراته التي خالف فيها المذاهب الأربعة أو بعضها، فتواه بالطلاق، وفاته بقلعة دمشق، وما كتب بها قبل موته، القصائد التي مدح بها الشيخ في حياته ورثي بها بعد مماته، مراثي العلماء والشعراء لشيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، إلى غير ذلك من الموضوعات.
