Book Description
يعد كتاب "بغية الطلب في تاريخ حلب" من أكثر كتب التاريخ فائدةً، وأوسعها نادرةً، وأثمنها وأغلاها، وأجملها وأحلاها. وهو في الأصل أربعون مجلداً، إلا أن الذي وصلنا منه عشر مجلدات، بخط ابن العديم. أرّخ فيه لحلب منذ الفتح الإسلامي حتى عصره، وترجم فيه لكل من سكنها أو مرّ بها من الأعلام والأعيان، منذ بدء الخليقة، وأودع فيه خلاصة مطالعاته في خزائن ملوك عصره، أثناء تجواله في ممالك المسلمين، قبيل الاجتياح المغولي، وقد رأى ما فعل المغول بحلب وعرض عليه هولاكو قضاءها فرفض، وعاد إلى القاهرة، وتوفي فيها يوم (20/ جمادى الآخرة/ 660).
وضمّن المؤلف كتابه العديد من تراجم أفراد أسرته وأخبارها، وهي الأسرة المشهورة بنسبتها إلى (أبي جرادة): أحد أصحاب الإمام علي (ر) وقد ولي قضاء حلب خمسة من آبائه متتالية. قال ياقوت الحموي بعدما ذكر ابن العديم وكتابه (الأخبار المستفادة في ذكر بني أبي جرادة): (أنا سألته جمعه فجمعه لي، وكتبه في نحو أسبوع، وهو عشرة كراريس). وقد شرح محقق هذا الكتاب الدكتور سهيل زكار، في وصفه للمجلدات العشر الباقية من الكتاب: "وهي في وضعها الحالي على غير الحال التي كانت عليه حين صنفها ابن العديم، فأوراقها مدشوتة، وقد أخذ كل جزء من أجزائها مكاناً غير مكانه، وهذا يعني أنها كانت قبل تسفيرها الأخير عبارة عن مجموعة من الأجزاء والأوراق، وأن الذي تولى تسفيرها لم يكن من ذوي العلم والدراية... ثم إن المجلد الأول، والذي لا يوجد منه سوى نسخة واحدة في العالم، ناقص من أوله وآخره، نقصاً تضمن مقدمة الكتاب).
وقد شرع المحقق في طباعة هذا الكتاب وأتبع عمله بفهرس ببلوغرافي ذكر فيه مصادر ابن العديم مع تحديد النصوص التي نقلها من كل مصدر.
