Book Description
تعد بيروت إحدى المدن البحرية الواقعة على ساحل البحر المتوسط والتي أدت دوراً كبيراً في تاريخ العرب والمسلمين، وقدر لأراضيها أن تكون ميدانا شهد أحداث الصراع الدامي بين المسلمين والصليبيين في حقبة العصور الوسطى، فقد احتلها الصليبيون في عهد الملك بلدوين الأول في شهر نيسان سنة504هـ/1110م إبان حملتهم الأولى على بلاد الشام سنة490هـ/1096م ثم تحولت إلى قاعدة عسكرية صليبية لتنفيذ مخططاتهم ومشاريعهم العدوانية ضد المسلمين فكانت تنطلق منها الهجمات البرية والبحرية تجاه المناطق الخاضعة لسيطرة المسلمين فتُنتَزَعُ منهم تحت ضغط القوة القسرية وظلت في قبضة الصليبيين مدة جاوزت الثمانين عاماً حتى حررها الناصر صلاح الدين الأيوبي سنة 583هـ/1187م، فأصبحت قاعدة عسكرية إسلامية تنطلق منها الهجمات تجاه المناطق الخاضعة لدولة الاحتلال الصليبي، واستمرت على هذا الحال حتى وقعت في قبضة الصليبيين مرة ثانية أثناء الحملة الألمانية سنة 594هـ/1197م، وتولت حكمها أسرة آل إبلين الفرنسية حتى تم تحريرها الثاني في العهد المملوكي، فضلاً عن أنها كانت في ظل هذه الأسرة سوقاً تجارية لتبادل السلع والبضائع مع مدن بلاد الشام وأوروبا لا سيما أنها كانت وما زالت تمتلك ميناءً صالحا لرسوّ السفن في معظم فصول السنة.
