جاءت الرواية تحت عنوان "الفتاة الأكثر حظاً بين الأحياء" وهي من تأليف الكاتبة الأميركية جيسيكا نول وترجمة غيلدا العساف ومراجعة وتحرير مركز التعريب والبرمجة في بيروت.
وفي الرواية: عندما كانت آني مراهقة في مدرسة برادلي المرموقة، تعرضت للإذلال إلى حدٍّ كبير، وهذا ما ألقى بها في بؤرة اليأس، وحملها على إعادة إنتاج نفسها، وذلك من خلال عملها في وظيفة ساحرة، عملت بجد وبلا كلل، وكأنها كارولين بالنسبة إلى جون كينيدي؛ ولأنها فتاة جميلة حازت على خطيب من عائلة غنية، وأوشكت أن تعيش الحياة المثالية التي سعت إليها…
ولكن آني لديها سر. هناك شيء من ماضيها لا يزال يطاردها، شيء خاص ومؤلم يهدد بالظهور على السطح وتدمير كل شيء. تستكشف رواية "الفتاة الأكثر حظاً بين الأحياء" للكاتبة "جيسيكا نول" الضغط الذي لا يطاق والذي تشعر به العديد من النساء "للحصول على كل شيء". وفي النهاية يبقى السؤال: هل كسر صمت آني سيدمر كل ما عملت من أجله، أم أنه سيطلق سراح آني أخيراً؟
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"كان مات يقول: "إن منطقة ماين لاين هي واحدة من أكثر المناطق ثراءً في البلاد، سمعت عدة مرات هذا الصباح أنّه لا يمكن لأحد أن يصدق أن هذا قد حدث هنا، وهذا صحيح بالفعل هذه المرة". اختفى من الشاشة، وظهرت لقطة جوية للمدرسة بينما ذكر مات عدد الجثث. "سبعة أشخاص ماتوا، اثنان منهم هم مطلقا النار، أما الباقون فهم الضحايا. توفي أحد الضحايا في الانفجار الذي وقع في الكافيتريا نتيجة قنبلة أنبوبية محلية الصنع وُضعت داخل حقيبة ظهر وتركت بالقرب من الطاولة التي يفضلها الطلاب الأكثر شعبيةً في المدرسة. انفجرت قنبلة واحدة فقط، في حين تعتقد الشرطة أنّه كان هناك خمس قنابل على الأقل، ولو انفجرت جميعها لكانت المذبحة أسوأ بكثير…".
