لا نجاة للعبد يوم القيامة إلا بالإيمان، والإيمان هو التصديق، ولا بد أن يكون جارفاً، ومجاله: الإيمان بالله ورسله وما جاءت به الرسل من غيبيات وتشريعات وكتب من عند الله. هذا الإيمان هو الأساس، إن صح صحت العبادة، وإلا خلا، وقد اصطلح العلماء على تسميته بالعقيدة لأنها ما ينعقد القلب عليه بيقين، وألفوا في ذلك كتباً كثيرة، ورسائل صغيرة. ولقد كتب الله القبول للعقيدة التي كتبها الإمام أبو جعفر أحمد بن محمد بن سلامة الطحاوي المتوفى سنة (321هـ) فاهتم بها الناس، وشرحها كثير من العلماء، وتبرز أهمية الكتاب الذي بين يدينا انطلاقاً من كونه يجمع بين طياته مختصراً لكافة الشروح التي جاءت على هذه العقيدة هذا بالإضافة إلى نص العقيدة الأساسي، وهذا المختصر هو من إعداد الدكتور عمر عبد الله كامل.
