لم أخرج في صناعة فهرس النحو هذا الذي أضعه بين يدي القارئ عن القواعد العامة في فهرسة المخطوطات، وهي تتلخص بما يلي: 1-ذكر اسم المخطوط والتعقيب على ذلك بذكر اسم مؤلفه وسنة ولادته ووفاته ما أمكن، بالتاريخين الهجري والميلادي، 2-ذكر بداية المخطوط ونهايته وقد تعمدت هنا أن أطيل فيما أنقله منه إذا كان المخطوط لم يُطبع بعد، 3-ذكر اسم الناسخ وتاريخ النسخ ومكانه، ما كان ذلك ممكناً، 4-وصف المخطوط: عدد أوراقه، ونوع خطه، ولون حبره، ومسطرته، وعدد الأسطر في الصفحة الواحدة منها، وبيان لحالته: قدماً أو جدّة أو إهتراء أو نقصاً، وتقصّي الملامح الأخرى عنه، 5-ذكر ما يبدو على المخطوط من تمليكات وتحبيسات ومن سماعات وإجازات، 6-وختمت ذلك كله بذكر رقمه.
