رواية هامة ومميزة، تقول الكثير في جوانب عديدة، نكتفي هنا بالحديث عن اثنين منها: الأول: كونها تصور مجمل الأحداث التي عصفت بالمنطقة العربية منذ ما سمي بحروب الخليج، وتدهور الأوضاع بمأساوية في سائر أقطارها، ووقوع السيف فيما بينها، بالإنقضاض على بعضها غزواً وتنكيلاً، كما يحدث في العصور الجاهلية، أيام القبائل العربية المنتشرة في جهات الصحراء المترامية الأطراف، مدمرة ما تبقى من إرث الحضارة العربية بتوجيه السلاح إلى الذات.
وهنا تبدو رمزية ظهور السندباد كمساءلة أمام التاريخ، كما تمر الرواية بإنتصار المقاومة اللبنانية على إسرائيل، مذكرة بأن العرب لو أرادوا لاستطاعوا أن يكونوا أقوياء، ينظر إليهم العالم بإحترام، لا كما يفعل اللآن، موحيةً بضرورة البحث عن سبب هذا الـ: عدم الإرادة، ورغم الإنتهاء من كتابتها قبل ما سمي بثورات الربيع العربي تتنبأ بحدوثها.
الثاني: تصور كيف ظهر المجتمع الأمريكي، وتكون من هاربين من العدالة في أوطانهم الأصلية، ممن لم تكن تعني لهم القيم والأعراف الإنسانية أي شيءٍ، ولا يقدسون غير الدولار، ولا يهمهم سوى حفظ أساليب النصب والإحتيال والقتل التي تؤدي إلى الحصول عليه.
وهؤلاء في هذا الزمن أبناء أولئك، لتوقف القارئ أمام سؤال: على ماذا يعوّل من يراهنون على أمثال هؤلاء؟...
كل هذا وغيره الكثير ضمن بناء روائي متين، وبلغة إبداعية مميزة.
