ربما يأتي يوم يقال فيه: ليت العبودي ذكرني في معجمه ولو بإشارة موجزة!...
وبعد خروج المعجم انقسم الناس فيه، فمنهم من شنع على المؤلف وبالغ في ذلك، وفرق بين النقد البناء المثمر وبين الإسقاط!...
وهذه نبذة رقمتُها بخطى واثقة، وهي قراءة متأنية في المعجم، فإن وُفِقت فيما رمت إليه فهذا توفيق من الموافق سبحانه ولعله ينتُفع به، وإلا حسبي أني أسرجت الطريق لمن يبني المنار به، وهذا أوان الحديث عنه.
وليعلم أنه خشية الإطالة على القارئ الكريم فقد حذفت في بعض المواضع الإحالة إلى المعجم وهي موجودة في المسودة لدي، وقد سلكت سبيل الإختصار لئلا يطول حجم الكتاب، واستفدت من توجيهات الفضلاء التي أفادوني بها وقد قراءتهم له، أحسن الله إليهم ونفع بهم.
وقد جعلتُه أقساماً: القسم الأول: حديث عام عن المعجم، ويشمل: منهجه، وطريقته، ومميزاته، والمآخذ عليه، وموارده، وأشياء أُخر، القسم الثاني: مواضيع متفرقة فيها لطائف بديعة وأخبار مليحة، القسم الثالث: لطائف عامة وغرائب حسب ترتيب المجلدات، القسم الرابع: من المؤلف، القسم الخامس: مواضع الحديث عن شيخ المؤلف: الشيخ العلامة عبد الله بن محمد بن حميد رحمه الله، القسم السادس: مواضع الحديث عن شيخ المؤلف: الشيخ الصالح صالح بن أحمد الخريصي رحمه الله.
