عبد الغني بن إسماعيل بن عبد الغني النابلسي الدمشقي الحنفي (1050 هـ - 1143 هـ / 1641 - 1731م) شاعر شامي وعالم بالدين والأدب ورحالة مكثر من التصنيف. ولد ونشأ وتصوف في دمشق. قضى سبع سنوات من عمره في دراسة كتابات "التجارب الروحيّة" لِفُقهاء الصوفية. وقد تعدّدت رحلاته عبر العالم الإسلامي، إلى إسطنبول ولبنان والقدس وفلسطين ومصر والجزيرة العربية وطرابلس وباقي البلاد السورية. استقر في مدينته دمشق وتوفي فيها.

التصوف هو موضوع هذا الكتاب، برسالتيه. فأولاهما شديدة الخصوصية بالفكر الصوفي، وثانيتهما عامة للمعرفة الصوفية.
أما الرسالة الأولى: وهي : (إيضاح المقصود من معنى وحدة الوجود) وكما يشير العنوان، دون لبس أو غموض، ولماذا أساء الناس فهمه، بالرغم من بساطة هذه الدعوة. فهي ليست مستحدثة فى الفكر الإسلامي فقد جاء بها الكتاب والسنة.
أما الرسالة الثانية: فهى رسالة ( مسائل فى التوحيد والتصوف) وهى عبارة عن خمسين مسألة فى التصوف والإجابة عليها. لمؤلفان الشيخ عبد الغنى النابلسي، رحمه الله.
