هل نسمح لأنفسنا أن يغيب عنا تراثُنا إلا عند قلة من الدارسين المتقوقعين على ذواتهم، على حين كان هذا التراث ملءَ أسماع القراء العرب وأبصارهم طوال قرون تنتهي على عتبات عدة عقود من السنين؟...
فإذا رفضنا أن نسمح بذلك فكيف نستطيع أن نجعل هذا التراث من مرغوبات القارئ العربي اليوم دون إكراهه عليه، بل بدفعه إلى التلهف لقراءته في الوقت الذي يزداد النافرون منه والكارهون له؟...
سألتُ نفسي هذا السؤال منذ أكثر من ثلاثين عاماً، وأنا أتابع ما تقذفه المطابع من أنواع الأدب، وما تجود به قرائح الشعراء من شعر، ووجدتني أجيب عن هذا السؤال بأن ذلك قد يكون بإعادة صياغة ما يُستطاع من هذا التراث.
وحالُنا هذا يشبه عودةَ الموسيقيين البارعين إلى القطع الموسيقية الفاتنة والأغاني التي يجب أَلَّا ننساها بتوزيع جديد يحافظ على جُمَلها اللحنية دون تغيير، ويعطيها لَبوساً جديداً يجعل مستمعيها أكثر تلذُّذاً بها.
وبذلك نحافظ على تواصل الأجيال الصاعدة مع موسيقانا وغنائنا موضوعَيْنِ إلى جانب ما يستجدُّ من أساليب الموسيقا والغناء.
