يسرني أن أكون من المشاركين في نفض الغبار عن تراثنا العربي اليمني بعد أن توفرت لخدمته بعض الجهود في السنوات التالية لثورة 26 سبتمبر لا سيما في مجال النحو واللغة فظهرت كتب محققة مدروسة، منها (كتاب كشف المشكل) لعلي بن سليمان الحيدرة اليمني (ت 599هـ) الذي حققه الدكتور هادي عطية مطر، وكتاب (المغني) لمنصور بن صلاح اليمني (ت 680هـ) الذي حققه الدكتور عبد الرزاق السعدي... ولا زال كثير من التراث الفكري والأدبي واللغوي والنحوي بحاجة إلى البحث والدراسة والتمحيص والجمع والتدوين، وقد شاء الله تعالى أن يقع اختياري لكتاب من كتب النحو، ذاع صيته بين طلاب العربية وتوفرت نُسَخهُ المخطوطة عند كثير من علماء اليمن، فنَسَخَهُ قلم آلاف، وانتشرت نسخه المخطوطة في المكتبات العربية والعالمية فظنه بعضهم شروحاً مختلفة ونسبوه مرة للمؤلف من غير تاريخ وفاة، ومرة بتاريخ وفاة حفيده وأخرى من غير لقب ورابعة بلقب الحفيد... إلخ، كما ذكر باسم (كتاب مصباح الراغب ومفتاح حقائق المآرب) وأخرى باسم (الحاشية على الكافية) وثالثة بعنوان (حاشية السيد) ومن يقابل بين تلك النسخ يتأكد أنها كتاب واحد والمؤلف واحد هو محمد بن عز الدين بن صلاح بن الحسن (ت 973هـ) إذ قُمتُ بتحقيقه للحصول على درجة الماجستير من جامعة صنعاء، وقد شرعت في العمل من عام 1985م ولم أتمكن من مناقشة الرسالة إلا في عام 1991م بعد حرب الخليج، وكان لا بد من إعادة النظر في ما جاء في الدراسة وفي بعض ما ورد في أثناء التحقيق على ضوء الملاحظات التي أبداها المناقشون، ولم تتوفر لي العزيمة للقيام بإصلاح ما شاب الرسالة من خطل زلل إلا بعد أن انتهيت من إعداد رسالة الدكتوراة التي حصلت عليها من الجامعة المستنصرية في بغداد عام 1998م.
وها أنا ذا بعد مرور تلك السنوات أحاول تخليص الكتاب مما شابه من قصور وعوار وأقدمه للقارئ الكريم بصوة واضحة صحيحة، لا أدعي لها الكمال، بل أظنه ما زال في حاجة إلى مزيد من التنقيح والتصحيح، وصدق القائل لو قُرئ كتاب سبعين مرة لوجد فيه من يقرأه في كل مرة أخطاء فالكما لله تعالى وحده، ولم يتنزه من الخطأ غير كتاب الله عزّ وجلّ، الذي لا يأتيه الباطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه.
قدمت للكتاب بدراسة موجزة، جعلتها في تمهيد، وأربعة مباحث؛ أعطى التمهيد لمحة مختصرة عن حياة ابن الحاجب مصنف المقدمة.
