وان كتاب الحافظ الذهبي ميزان الاعتدال في نقد الرجال يدل على المعرفة الرجالية الواسعة مع ما اوتي من ذكاء وادراك واسعين جعلت منه ناقدا رجاليا ماهرا والذي اعتبره معاصروه ومن جاء بعدهم من احسن كتبه واجلها فقال فيه السخاوي : وعول عليه من جاء بعده وقال ايضا هو من اهل الاستقراء التام في نقد الرجال
