"قبول الأخبار ومعرفة الرجال" كتاب يبحث من خلاله المؤلف في علم رجال الحديث، وقسمه إلى أبواب عدة عالج من خلالها المواضيع التالية: باب ما ورد في فساد كثير من حديثهم وتعمد جماعة منهم الكذب فيه، باب خوفهم من الحديث ومن الاستكثار منه، باب ما جاء عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وعن السلف، باب مما ورد في العمل على الخلافة، باب مما ورد مما الغلط فيه ظاهراً جداً لا يدفعونه ولا يشكون فيه. باب مما ورد عن كثير عنهم من الركاكة والسخف وقلة المعرفة مما نحن برء من أكثره. باب في طعنهم بالجهل منهم جماعة من الصحابة، وجماعة من التابعين بإحسان وعلى سلطانهم وأئمتهم، وإقرارهم بغلط المشهورين منهم، ومن سلفهم وتخليط حقائقهم ومن عليه يعتمدون.
كما أورد المؤلف باب مما يقبل في محدثي الشام وجماعة من المتقدمين، ومحدثي أهل البصرة وأهل صنعاء وأهل المدينة وأهل العراق، وهل مكة، وباب أسامي من ضعفوه وأسقطوه من روايتهم عنه، وباب في الكُنى والألقاب، وباب ذكر فيه من رموه، بأنه من أهل البدع وأصحاب الأهواء وباب ذكر فيه المدلسين، وما قيل في التدليس.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب محققاً، إذ تجلى عمل المحقق فيه عبر تقسيمه المخطوطة إلى لوحات ومن ثم ترقيمها، وتخريج ما جاء في الكتاب من بعض الآيات والأحاديث النبوية، كما وعمل المحقق على توضيح بعض المعاني اللغوية، وترجمت أبيات بعض الشعراء وضبط أشعارهم.
