من روائع التراث الأدبي ما وجدته من شعر صحت نسبته لشيخ الإسلام ابن حجر العسقلاني- رغم عدم شهرته الآن- بأنه شاعر- فقد جمع شعره في ديوانه الذي تتنوع أغرضه الشعرية، وقد عثرت على نسخ خطية لهذا الشعر فيما عرف بالديوان الكبير وما جرده من منظومه من (الأقسام السبعة) وحرصت على تحقيق شعره حفاظاً على هذا التراث الإسلامي العربي، وقد تحريت الدقة، حرصاً مني على إخراج الديوان في أجلى صورة تمثل ما أراده مؤلفه، ولم آل جهداً في الرجوع إلى المصادر، وأمهات الكتب التي اعتمدت عليها في المراجعة والتحقيق مع ما تطلبه ذلك من معاناة ومشقة استمرت زمناً طويلاً، وتحليت معها بالصبر والأناة لأصلا إلى الغاية المرجوة، وقبل النحقيق قدمت دراسة موجزة عن عصر الشاعر ابن حجر، وحياته ومواهبه المتعددة وعلمه وثق5افته الواسعة، وعن أغراض شعره وقيمة هذا الأدب الذي يعد من غرر الشعر، وعيونه، وذلك تتميماً للفائدة لمن يريد الاطلاع على هذا الديوان، والإفادة منه.
