الفردوس مأثور الخطاب لأبي شجاع شيرويه الهمذاني، كتاب جمع فيه الأحاديث المروية عن الرسول عليه أفضل الصلاة والسلام، وقد أورد فيه أكثر من عشرة آلاف حديث، بعد أن رأى أعراض أهل زمانه "عن الحديث وأسانيده وجهلوا معرفة الصحيح والسقيم وتركوا الكتب التي صنفها الأئمة. واشتغلوا عنها بالقصص والأحاديث المحذوفة عنها أسانيدها التي لم يعرفها ناقلو الحديث ولمي تقرأ على أحد من أصحاب الحديث".
وقد جمع كل ذلك من مسموعاته من شيوخ سفراً وحضراً في السنن والآداب والمواعظ والأمثال والفضائل والعقوبات وغيرها وقد خرج أحاديثه على كتاب القاضي أبي عبد الله محمد بن جعفر علي المصري وحذف أسانيدها ورتبها على حروف المعجم وفصلها فصولاً حسب تقارب ألفاظ البني، وذكر على رأس كل حديث منها راوية عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم.
والكتاب في ستة أجزاء وفهرس عام، وقد عني العلماء بهذا الكتاب وصنفوا عليه التصانيف المختلفة اختصاراً واستخراجاً منه والأصل الخطي الذي اعتمده المحقق لهذا المصنف موجود في معهد المخطوطات بالقاهرة. وعمد المحقق إلى التعريف بالإعلام والكتب الواردة في المتن وخرج للأحاديث وبين موضعها من الصحاح.
