يعتبر كتاب "العمدة في الأحكام"، في معالم الحلال والحرام، عن خير الأنام محمد عليه الصلاة والسلام"، مما تفق عليه الشيخان البخاري ومسلم في "صحيحيهما"، للإمام الحافظ الكبير أبي محمد عبد الغني بن عبد الواحد المقدسي -رحمه الله-، كتاباً مهماً عز نظيره في هذا الباب، مما حدا بالكثير من العلماء إلى العكوف على شرحه، وبيان أحكامه ومسائله.
وكان في مقدمة الشروح عليه: شرح الشيخ الإمام الفقيه أبي الحسن علي بن إبراهيم علاء الدين العطار المتوفي سنة (724هـ)، أشهر أصحاب الإمام النووي، وأخصهم به، لزمه طويلاً، وانتفع وتخرج به، وكتب مصنفاته، واختصر كثيراً منها، حتى صار يعرف بـ: "مختصر النووي".
ويعد كتابه هذا في طليعة شروح العمدة، فقد تكلم فيه على أحاديث العمدة بعبارة سهلة، موضحة من غير تعقيد، أو خلل، أو تقصير، مبيناً فيه الكلام على رواة الأحاديث بذكر أخبارهم، وشيء من مناقبهم، من الكتب المعتمد، ثم شرع في الكلام على ألفاظ الحديث وغريبه، وما انطوى عليه الحديث من الاستدلالات الفقهية والأصولية، معتمداً على كتب شيخه ابن دقيق العيد، والنووي، بجمع مميز، وتحرير للمسائل بفهم دقيق. فهم شرح جمع بين عدة كتب، مضافاً إليها ما انفرد بتحريره وترجيحه.
ومما يزيد في قيمة الكتاب العلمية: أن يرى الباحث نقولاً للعلماء من شرح ابن العطار، هذا، فالشيخ محمد بن أحمد بن مرزوق التلمساني، شرح على كتاب "عمدة الأحكام" للإمام عبد الغني المقدسي في خمس مجلدات، سماه: "تيسير المرام في شرح عمدة الأحكام".
وبالجملة: فقد أخذ الشيخ ابن العطار مادة كتابه هذا من شرح النووي على مسلم، وزاد عليه من شرح ابن دقيق العيد على "العمدة" فوائد آخر حسنة، خاصة فيما يتعلق بالمسائل الفقهية والأًولية، على نقيض ما ذكره ابن قاضي شهبة في "طبقات الشافعية" من أن المؤلف أخذ شرح ابن دقيق، وزاد عليه من شرح مسلم فوائد أخر حسنة.
فالكتاب يحمل بين دفتيه الكثير من المسائل، والفوائد الحديثية، والفقهية، واللغوية، مما قد لا يراه المرء في كتب شرح العمدة على الخصوص، وشروح الحديث على العموم.
فحري بطالب العلم إدامة النظر فيه، والعكوف على قراءته ودرسه وفهمه، لما اشتمل عليه من الجمع اللطيف لمسائله المنثورة في بطون الكتب، دون حشو أو تطويل أو إخلال بالمعنى أو تقصير، مع تحرير وتقرير للمسائل.
