تناول المؤلف فى هذا الكتاب الحديث عن مسألة اهتم بها علماء الحديث وكتبوا فيها المصنفات، ألا وهى مسألة أسماء من يعرف بكنيته من أصحاب تحقيق الكتاب أن الكتاب مختص بالصحابة فحسب، ولم يتناول غيرهم ممن هو دونهم فى الطبقة، كالتابعين وتابعيهم كما قام بترتيب أسماء الصحابة على ترتيب الحروف الهجائية، فبدأ بباب الألف، ثم باب الباء... الخ. ويبدأ بذكر كنية الصحابى، ثم يورد بعده اسمه. ولا يتطرق لحياة الصحابى أو أحاديثه، ولذا قمنا بهذه المهمة فى التحقيق، هذا وقد بلغ عدد الصحابة 200 صحابى. والله من وراء القصد.
