ممَّا لا شكَّ فيه أنَّ مسند الإمام أحمد من التَّصانيف الجليلة المُشتملة على الأحاديث الكثيرة الأصيلة، فإنَّ له المَدرج الأعلى في كتب الإسلام، ونَخْب دواوينه العِظام، فلم يزاحمه شيء من المسانيد على الدوام، فهو "أصل كبير، ومرجعٌ وثيق لأصحاب الحديث، انتُقِي مِن حديث كثير".
وممَّن كان كِلِفاً بهذا "المسند" ومُحتفلاً به إمام القُرَّاء في عصره ابن الجَزَري، فإنه اعتنى به سماعاً وقراءةً وإقراءً، وحرصاً على العُلُوِّ في سياق السند إليه، ثُمَّ تَوَّج عمله هذا بختم له ماتع المعنى، رشيقُ المبنى، ولا عجب في هذا، فقد كان الإمام ابن الجزري مشاركاً في عدَّة فنون والتي منها: الحديث وعلومه.
وقد أحسن في هذا العِلْق الثمين، حيث ذكر فوائد عديدة وفوائد مُنِيفة حول هذا الديوان السَّامي وفضائله وفضائل مصنّفه الإمام أحمد، إلى غيرها من النفائس المُكَّمِّلة، والفوائد المُتَّمِّمة في هذا الباب، مع سياق إسناده إليه، ذاكراً تراجم رجال السند إلى جامعه، ثُمَّ أنهى ذلك ينظم رائق في ختمه.
