يأتي هذا الكتاب ضمن سلسلة كتب تبحث في ظاهرة "الصمت في التصوف والأديان". وعنوان هذا الكتاب هو "الصمت في اليهودية، تقاليده في التوراة والتلمود وعند النبي إيليا والحسيديم". وهو يعالج موضوع الصمت في تيارات روحانية مختلفة، ليكشف فيها عن سر مشترك يحركها جميعاً، هو سر الصمت الملازم للكلمة، فهما معاً يشكلان سر التواصل مع المطلق، مع الله، في شتى كشوفاته.
ومن يقرأ متن الكتاب يجده مصالحاً للموضوع بطريقة شاملة شيقة، ويجد فيه بساطة الطرح وعمق المعالجة، مما يجعل القارئ المهتم، ينجذب إلى قراءته، مكتشفاً معاني جديدة للصمت، نهلها الكاتب العارف من مخزون علمه وكتبه، فقدمها في كتابه هذا مخفاً على الباحث مشقة البحث الطويل ولامضني. فقد اعتمد للدخول في صلب موضوعه، الأسلوب الكلاسيكي في معالجة مواضيع كهذه، إذ بادر إلى المصادر الإيمانية اليهودية دون غيرها، مستنداً أحياناً على كتاب ومؤلفين يهود، ليحافظ على موضوعيته، بعيداً كل البعد عن الإنجرار خلف الأحكام المسبقة، والنعوت المعلبة. أراد أن يكون طرحه "يهودياً"، توراتياً، "تلموديا"، و"حسيدياً" صرفاً جامعاً بين معطيات التوراة الكتابية، والتوراة الشفهية، ركني العبادة اليهودية، وهذا ليس بالأمر السهل في محيطنا المشرقي العربي، للأسباب التي يعرفها الكثيرون، وأما الذين يتخطونها بموضوعيتهم فقليلون.
