قامت الأتارية والرحالة والضابطة السياسية والسكرتيرة الشرقية لدار المندوب السامي البريطاني في العراق، الأنسة (بيل) برحلة على إمتداد نهر (الفرات) بدءاً من (حلب) ولغاية (الحله) في جنوب العراق، ثم قفلت عائدة منها إلى (بغداد) و(سامراء) و(الشرقاط) و(الموصل) و(دياربكر)... إلخ.
وذلك عام 1909م حيث سجلت الكثير من المشاهدات والمقابلات والأحداث سواءاً ما كان منها محلياً أو على مستوى الدولة العثمانية، وقامت بإخراج ذلك كله بكتاب أسمته (مراد إلى مراد) بعد طبعه عام 1911م.
لقد تطرقت الأنسة (بيل) في كتابها هذا عن الجوانب الاجتماعية والعشائرية والآثارية والسياسية والإقتصادية... إلخ، التي تهم المنطقة التي زارتها حيث بدت فيها الملامح العامة للأرض والإنسان.
إن هذه الملامح تنعكس الآن، وبصورة جليه، فيما يصبو إليه شعبنا العربي في تحقيق آماله وتطلعاته.
لا شك أن الكتاب سجل حافل لا يمكن الإستغناء عنه في الكثير من الدراسات الأكاديمية التي تخص منطقتنا.
