كيف تمكّنت مرايا الأمراء الغربية - المسيحية من تطوير نفسها؟ كيف نجحت، تدريجياً، بشكل أو بآخر، في تكييف تصوّراتها الأخلاقية مع ما يتطلّبه الحكم السياسي من "خبرات"، و"تقنيات"؟ كيف تمكّنت من ملاءمة القيم الدينية مع مستجدّات السلطة السياسية؟ كيف وُفِّقت في إستغلال الإرثين "الروماني" و"الإغريقي" في تجديد فكرها السياسي؟ كيف حدث أن تصوّر "رجال دين" مسيحيّون المجال السياسي شيئاً "طبيعياً"؛ بل صاغوا مؤلّفات خالية من إحالات دينية؟ كيف نجحت في التخلّص التدريجي من "شخصنة" السلطة للتّفكير في الدولة فضاءً مستقلاً؟ وكيف مهّدت الطريق لــ : مكيافيلي ليسير في إتّجاه مغاير، مؤسّساً بذلك فكراً سياسياً جديداً؟.
