الإسلام والإيمان يجتمع فيهما الدِّين كله، وقد كثر كلام النَّاس في حقيقتهما وكثر إضطرابهم في ذلك، مما دعا أهل العلم إلى بيان الحقِّ وبيان الأصول والدلائل والبراهين الدالة عليه من الكتاب والسنة والإجماع، ومن الأصول المتفق عليها، ومن أجود من كتب في ذلك من أهل العلم وأَلَّفَ وَبَيَّنَ؛ شيخُ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله تعالى، ومن أبدعِ تصانيفه في ذلك: شرح حديث جبريل المسمى: "كتاب الإيمان الأوسط"، فإنَّه قد جمع فيه مباحث المسألة ووضح براهينها.
وحاجةُ النَّاس – لا سيما أهل السنّة والجماعة - ماسَّةٌ إلى مطالعة كتب هذا الإمام، والإنتفاع بها، خاصة في هذه المسألة، التي كثر الخوض والنزاع فيها؛ حتى بين المنتسبين إلى السُّنة، وكلٌ يدَّعي الإستناد إلى النصوص الشَّرعية والتأييد بكلام شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، ولا يخلو حال كثيرٍ من سوء فهمٍ للنصوص وسوء فهمٍ للكلام شيخ الإسلام رحمه الله تعالى.
وقد منَّ الله تعالى عَلَيَّ بدراسة كلام شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية في هذا الموضوع ولا سيما هذا الكتاب، ومنّ عليّ بتدريسَه وتأمُّل عباراتِه ومباحثه.
